Play Klondike solitaire online
This is classic Klondike solitaire, the one most people just call solitaire. It is for anyone who wants a quick, quiet card game on a phone or computer, with no download and no account. You can play draw 1 or draw 3, take back as many moves as you like, and ask for a hint when you are stuck.
Every day there is one deal that is the same for everyone. We check each daily deal with a solver before it goes live, so you know it can be won. Random deals are there too when you want to keep playing. Your stats, streak and level stay in your own browser.
Solitaire rules
- The goal is to move all 52 cards onto the four foundation piles at the top, one pile per suit, building each from Ace up to King.
- The table has seven columns. Each starts with one card face up and the rest face down: one card in the first column, two in the second, up to seven in the last.
- On the table you build down in alternating colors. A red 6 can go on a black 7, and a black 5 can go on that red 6. You can move a whole run of face-up cards together.
- When you move the last face-up card off a column, the card under it turns face up. An empty column can only take a King, with or without a run on top of it.
- The remaining 24 cards are the stock. Tap the stock to turn over one card (draw 1) or three cards (draw 3) onto the waste pile. The top card of the waste is in play. When the stock runs out, tap it to flip the waste back over and go through again. There is no limit on passes.
- You win when every card is on a foundation.
How to play on this page
- Drag a card, or a run of cards, to where it fits. Cards that can go there light up as you drag, and the card snaps in when you let go.
- Or just tap a card. It jumps to its best legal spot. Tap it again quickly to send it to its foundation.
- Tap the stock in the top-left corner to turn over new cards.
- Press Undo as often as you need. Press Hint and the game shows the next move on a winning path.
- When every card is face up, the game offers to finish for you.
- On a keyboard: press Tab to reach the table. Left and right arrows move between the stock, the waste, the four foundations and the seven columns, or press 1 to 7 to jump to a column. In a column, Up takes more cards from the run and Down takes fewer. Press Enter or Space to pick up, then use the arrows to reach a place it fits and press Enter to drop it. Escape puts it back. B plays the best move for the pile you are on, U undoes, and H gives a hint. A screen reader announces each move.
Draw 1 or draw 3 (turn 3)
In draw 1, you turn one card at a time and can reach every card in the stock on each pass, so the game is easier and most deals can be won. In draw 3, also called turn 3, you turn three cards and can only play the top one, so the order of the stock matters and the game is harder. Both are the same rules otherwise. Pick either one before you start.
The daily deal
Each day has one deal, the same for every player, with its own page at a dated address such as /solitaire/2026-10-30. Share the link and a friend gets exactly your cards. Every daily deal has been solved by a program, in both draw 1 and draw 3, before it was published, so a win is always possible. Each daily deal also has a par, the number of moves in the solver's own winning line. That line is not a record, so it is only the first bar. Under par means strictly fewer moves than par; matching it does not count. Every game also shows two goals you can hit on any deal: win without pressing undo, and win in under 4 minutes in draw 1 or 6 minutes in draw 3. The goals are listed above the table before you start, and the result card shows which ones you met.
Challenges
Speed run gives you 5 minutes in draw 1 or 7 in draw 3 to clear the table. No undo turns the undo button off for a bigger bonus. Both can be played on the daily deal or a random one.
Scoring
- Standard scoring: 5 points for moving a card from the waste to a column, 10 for a card to a foundation, 5 for turning over a hidden card, and -15 for taking a card back off a foundation. Going through the waste again costs 20 points in draw 3 and 100 in draw 1.
- Combos: score two or more times within 5 seconds and each one after the first earns a bonus, up to a x5 combo.
- Win bonuses: points for a fast finish, plus a bonus if you never pressed undo.
- Vegas scoring is optional. You start at -$52, and every card on a foundation pays $5.
Solitaire tips
- Turn over the face-down cards first. A move that uncovers a hidden card is almost always better than one that does not.
- Empty a column when you have a King ready for it. An empty column with no King to fill it does little.
- Do not rush cards to the foundations. A 5 sitting at the base of a column can be more useful there than on a foundation, because it takes a black 4.
- Aces and 2s should go up right away. They never block anything.
- Look at the waste before you move. If the card you need is just under the top, plan to reach it.
- In draw 3, you only see every third card. Play the top waste card when it helps, because the order shifts once you use it.
Questions
What is Klondike solitaire?
Klondike is the most common solitaire card game, and it is the version people mean when they say "solitaire". You move cards between seven columns and four foundation piles until all 52 are on the foundations in suit order.
Is every deal winnable?
No. Some random deals cannot be won, however well you play. The daily deal is different: we run a solver on it before it goes live and only publish deals it can win, in both draw 1 and draw 3. The random deal option tries to pick a deal our solver can win too, and when it cannot confirm one quickly it deals you a normal random game.
What is the difference between draw 1 and draw 3?
Draw 1 turns over one card at a time. Draw 3 turns over three and you can only play the top one. Draw 3 is harder and wins less often. You can switch before each game.
Is this solitaire free?
Yes. It is free, with no account, no download and no ads in the game. It works on phones, tablets and computers.
How does the daily deal work?
Every day at midnight New York time there is a new deal that is the same for everyone. Win it to add a day to your streak. You get one free freeze a week, so a single missed day will not break it. Past deals can be played from their dated pages, and they do not change your streak.
Can I undo moves?
Yes, as many as you like. The one exception is the No undo challenge, where undo is turned off on purpose.
How do I move cards faster?
Tap a card to send it to its best spot, and tap it twice quickly to send it to a foundation. Dragging also works for single cards and for runs.
Is my progress saved?
A game in progress, your stats, your streak and your level are saved in your browser on this device. They are not sent to a server, and clearing site data erases them. The site does count anonymous visits and plays, such as that a daily deal was started or won, but never your cards or moves.
What do the hints do?
A hint shows a move that is on a winning path when the solver can find one, and a sensible move otherwise. Using hints does not cost points.
