CASCADE, a word search with falling letters and combos
CASCADE is a free word search where the board changes as you play. You get a theme, such as Fire or Ocean, and a short list of theme words. Swipe across a word on the board. Its tiles burst, the tiles above fall into the gap, and new letters drop in from the top.
Sometimes the fall lines up another theme word. It bursts by itself and the chain multiplies your score, up to x8. Every level has a move limit, so you want to find words quickly and use the falls to your advantage. There is a new daily puzzle and 30 levels, and it works on a phone with one hand.
How to play
- Drag your finger across a theme word in a straight line. Words run across, up and down, on the diagonals, and backward. You can also tap the first letter and then the last letter.
- When you find a word, its tiles burst. The tiles above fall and new letters drop in.
- If the fall makes another theme word, it bursts too. That is a chain. Each step multiplies the score: x2, x3, up to x8.
- Every swipe of three or more tiles uses one move, whether it finds a word or not. Words that burst in a chain are free, and a chain of x3 or more gives one move back. When all theme words are found, you win the level.
- The first time you clear a level, chains earn power-ups. A chain of x2 gives a Reveal, x3 a Shuffle, and x4 or more a Bomb that clears a 3 by 3 block. Power-ups never use a move.
Tips
- Burst words near the bottom first. They move more tiles, so a chain is more likely.
- Every word you still need is always somewhere on the board. If a word is missing, look at the diagonals and backward lines.
- Use Reveal when you are stuck. Save Shuffle for a board that looks tangled.
- You earn stars for finishing with few wrong swipes. XP raises your rank and unlocks tile skins.

Is CASCADE free?
Yes. No account, no download and no ads inside the game. Your levels, stars and streak are saved in your browser.
How is it different from a normal word search?
The board does not stay still. Found words burst, letters fall, and new letters arrive, so the words you still need can move. Falls can also make words that burst on their own.
Can I always finish a level?
Yes. After every move, each theme word that is not found yet is still readable somewhere on the board. Only your swipes use up your moves, so look before you swipe.
Is there a daily puzzle?
Yes. Every day has one puzzle that is the same for everyone. Finish it to keep your streak going.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. The board fits a small phone in portrait, and you can play with one thumb. You can turn sound off on the map screen.
