Word game

Unlimited five-letter word game

Guess the hidden word in six tries. Colors tell you how close each letter is. Play as many as you want.

How the colors work

  • Green: the letter is in the word, in this spot.
  • Yellow: the letter is in the word, in a different spot.
  • Gray: the letter is not in the word.

Repeated letters are counted carefully: if the answer has one E and you guess two, only one is colored.

A good plan

  • Open with a word that uses five different common letters, such as CRANE, SLATE or ADIEU.
  • Use your second guess to test new letters if the first found little.
  • Think about where letters can go. Few English words end in a J, and many end in E, S, Y or T.
