Picross or nonogram?
They are the same puzzle. "Picross" is a name used by a well-known Nintendo game series, and the puzzle itself is usually called a nonogram, griddler or hanjie. These puzzles are our own, drawn by hand, and each can be solved by logic alone.
Picross tips
- Start with the biggest numbers. A run that fills most of the line leaves overlap you can mark right away.
- Cross out as you go. Marking empty squares makes every next step easier.
- Switch between rows and columns. Each new square helps the crossing line.
- Do not guess. Every puzzle here can be solved by logic.

What is picross?
Picross is a picture puzzle where numbers at the side of each row and column tell you how many squares to fill. It is the same puzzle as a nonogram, griddler or hanjie.
How do you play picross?
Each number is a run of filled squares. A clue of 3 1 means three in a row, a gap, then one. Use the clues to work out which squares are filled and which are empty, and a picture appears.
Is this the same as the Nintendo game?
It is the same kind of puzzle, but these are our own puzzles, not Nintendo's. Picross is the name of a Nintendo game series; the puzzle type is called a nonogram.
Can I get hints?
